Yes, just disassemble and pop in the washer. There is also a small brush included if food gets stuck in the tube on the Sear'd base.

Gas Grill: Locate the Sear'd where it doesn't interfere with any shelves you may have, usually best suited if you can place between two hot spots on the grill, often this means just between two burners

Charcoal Grill: You will want to get the coals burning evenly and then you can shape them into a ring with the Sear'd in the center and the coals around the outside. Another option is to place an aluminum baking dish on the bottom of the grill and place the Sear'd in that and the coals around the dish.

Pellet Grill or Smoker: With precision controlled heat, location inside grill is not very sensitive

Easiest way is just to hold the bottom of the seard with both hands and place on grill. Other options: Place the Sear'd onto a plate to prevent meat dripping and transport to grill, then slide the Sear'd directly from the plate onto the grill.

Depending on the weight of the food items cooked you have a few options. Something heavy like a whole chicken the best way is to use a sturdy spatula and place it under the Sear'd in combination with tongs to hold the chicken to move. For lighter foods a single pair of tongs can be used to remove the food and the Sear'd skewer form the base or you can use a sturdy spatula under the plate and a hot pad holder to grab the tip of the skewer.

Yes, the Sear'd works perfect placed directly on grill grates.
You can place the Sear'd in a baking dish or pie tin to capture the juices if you like to keep the grill clean, want to use the liquid to baste the meat, or are thinking of making a sauce/gravy with the drippings.

No, the skewer rod easily slips in and out of the base so you can easily slide your finished product oft without hassle.

By not attaching at the base:

  • The Sear'd base and skewer are significantly easier to clean
  • The base can be easily removed from skewer when hot and served as a kebab or the food sliced using the skewer as an aid
  • The food can be rotated on the skewer without needing to rotate the whole base
  • The base will be usable with future Sear'd products other than the basic skewer

No, the Sear'd works best when on a grill with a lid or in an oven, and can also be used successfully on an open grill.
